Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in Jurnal Al-Ikmal contributes to the development of a reliable and respected body of knowledge in the field of education. It reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions supporting them. Peer-reviewed articles uphold the integrity of academic scholarship; therefore, it is essential to establish ethical standards expected of all parties involved in the process of publishing, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the academic community.
Institut Agama Islam Darul A’mal Lampung, as the publisher of Jurnal Al-Ikmal, takes its responsibilities seriously and is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprinting, or commercial revenue do not influence editorial decisions.
Publication Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief of Jurnal Al-Ikmal is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts will be published. The decision is based on the manuscript’s academic value, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editorial decisions must always be guided by scholarly merit and legal requirements related to defamation, copyright, and plagiarism. Consultation with editors or reviewers may be conducted to support decision-making.
Editors must evaluate manuscripts based solely on intellectual content, without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political views of the authors.
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, or the publisher as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without written consent from the author.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.
Any reviewer who feels unqualified to review a manuscript or knows they cannot provide a timely review should immediately notify the editor and decline the invitation.
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shared or discussed with others except with permission from the editor.
Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is not acceptable. Reviewers should clearly express their opinions and support them with arguments.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any similarity or overlap between the reviewed manuscript and other published work should be reported to the editor.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must remain confidential and must not be used for personal advantage. Reviewers should decline reviewing manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors or related institutions.
Duties of Authors
Authors must present an accurate and objective account of the research performed. Underlying data must be represented accurately. Manuscripts should contain sufficient detail and references to permit replication. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works. If authors use the work or words of others, proper citation and acknowledgment are required.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors must not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals concurrently is unethical and unacceptable.
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided. Authors should cite works that have influenced the reported research.
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All significant contributors must be listed as co-authors. Others who contribute in supporting roles should be acknowledged appropriately. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that may influence their research. All sources of financial support must also be acknowledged.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and work with the editor to retract or correct the article.
